The chia seeds are naturally high in fiber and good fats. They contain in particular 15% to 17% of omega-3 in the form of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). The seeds also contain 5% to 8% gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6.
Chia also contains about 23% protein and it is a good source of folic acid, calcium and antioxidants.
The high fiber content of chia and its mucilaginous properties make it an attractive product to increase its consumption of fiber, especially for people who suffer from constipation.
